About the event
This is our Level One Certification of Traditional Māori Healing. An introduction and exploration of Indigenous Māori Knowledge, concentrating on Health and Wellbeing within the philosophies, art and practice of Mirimiri and Romiromi. This ancient practice enables the movement and release of trauma, stress and pain held within the cellular memory and waterways of the physical body.
The mahi focuses on the catalyst of illness and dis-ease rather than giving too much mana to the symptom. Tauira (students) will learn when we trace and heal from the catalyst the healing is more effective long term and prevents the illness or dis-ease manifesting elsewhere in the body.
Over the weekend you will be introduced to:
- Whakapapa of Mirimiri / Romiromi - Where our practices originated from and discussing different methods and traditions our ancestors used for restoring the balance within individuals, whānau and communities.
- Whakaruruhau – Due to the release of trauma, pain and stress with clients from their spiritual and physical bodies, the significance of safe practices is paramount. Learning ‘How to keep yourself safe' is the key component to longevity and wellbeing as Mirimiri / Romiromi practitioners.
- He Takutaku – Our ancestors used incantations to invoke the work of the Gods. Tauira will learn specific ’Takutaku' for the mahi of Mirimiri/Romiromi. They will leave with an understanding of how, when and what the importance of this taōnga is.
- Whatumanawa – to stimulate and attune the third eye to scan and read the blockages within the physical body and the connection to wairua.
- Ngā tohu o te Tinana - the male and female essences and how imbalance manifests within the physical body as pain, illness and dis-ease.
- Romiromi - introduction to pressure points, energy channels and alignment within the bodywork. Exploring different ways we can move, release and restore balance within the spiritual, psychological and physical bodies of the client.

Tracey-Leigh Te Paa will be facilitating this weekend's wananga and has 16 years of experience as a Traditional Māori Healer and Rongoā Practitioner. My foundations of knowledge come from the teachings of Hohepa Delamere but my growth and mahi truly evolved from and through the guidance of my tūpuna. My passion lies with working and empowering wāhine, by removing and releasing intergenerational trauma from the cellular memory of the body using the magic of our ancient knowledge and spiritual practices. I will be supported by my wonderful team of Mirimiri / Romiromi practitioners whom I have had the privilege of teaching and working alongside in the Ranui and Tititrang. If you have any questions please message me. I look forward to sharing the knowledge I’ve accumulated in my years as a Mama, ā Māori Woman, Teacher and Indigenous Healer.
